caring for children

"I have received school supplies, bicycles, and pajamas for my children...for us, the Center is a big family...
I really appreciate what you have done for us.” - M.R., Ossining

1 in 10 children in Westchester lives in poverty. Our relationships with families have taught us that the best way to help those in financial crisis is to first meet the needs of their children, because as families struggle to make ends meet, children bear the brunt. Families report reduced stress and greater peace of mind when their children have their needs met.

In 2023 we:

  • Provided for almost 500 babies by offering diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food to their families.

  • Supported 1,707 local children with brand-new school supplies.

  • 120 high school seniors attended their Senior Proms in style with beautiful donated formal wear.

  • Awarded 29 students with scholarships to support their continued education to achieve their academic goals.

  • Kept 2,100 children warm during the winter with new pajamas, hats and gloves.

  • Sent 80 children for a summer sleep-away camp adventure in Maine and New Hampshire.
