CLASSES & PROGRAMS

CURRENT CLASSES

SEWING AND DESIGN 

  • Wednesdays: 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Thursdays: 6:30 PM - 9:00PM

Taught by a seamstress, this program will meet for 2 ½ hours for 8 weeks. The class will be a mixture of new students along with more advanced students who will be working on their own independent projects. Beginning students will progress from honing and perfecting basic sewing skills to progress to creating and finishing a student project. Post Program support will include how to sell handmade products on the internet. Can only accommodate 8 students in each class. Advance registration necessary. 
 

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANUAGE 

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Wednesdays: 6:30 PM - 8:00PM
  • Saturdays: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

English for non-native speaking adults who have a basic understanding of the language.  
 

BASIC COMPUTER & INTERNET SKILLS

  • Wednesdays: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Learn basic typing skills, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Help with printing resumes, and entrepreneurial support services including creating business cards.
 

COMMUNITY SEWING

  • Fridays: 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Come to the Community Studio and join fellow neighbors for a socially distanced morning of sewing together. No experience is necessary as there will be an experienced sewer present to teach the basics. Space is limited. Please call 914-301-5417 to reserve a space.

Help with job searches, resume writing and interview skills. Access to updated job board with local job listings. No advance registration is required.

UPCOMING CLASSES

BASICS OF CONSTRUCTION - Weekly Classes
Taught by an Architect and Engineer, in this program, students will learn to read blueprints, calculating materials needed, along with other basic construction skills. This class will be taught in English and Spanish and can only accommodate 24 students. Advance registration necessary. 
 
OSHA CONSTRUCTION - Classes held over 3-4 days
Most workers in construction, building development and other related fields will need to take hazard recognition training. This will ensure that workers are able to identify, predict, prevent and stop potential hazards in the workplace. Advance registration necessary.
