The Community Center of Northern Westchester (CCNW) seeks to improve the well-being and self-sufficiency of neighbors in need in Northern Westchester by providing food, clothing, programs, and other resources. SUMMARY: Who we need
The Community Center was founded by and is sustained by the generosity and caring of the community. We are a leanly staffed organization with ten employees and a robust workforce of dedicated volunteers who go out of their way to make our community a better place.  We are looking for an Operations Assistant join our team and support the flow of our work each day.

JOP DESCRIPTION: Operations Assistant
This position requires approx. 28 hours per week and reports to the Operations Manager.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:30 – 4:30, Thursday 11:30 to 6:30, Saturday 9:30-1:30

Support the day to day operations of the Community Center:

  • Foster a welcoming, productive, and enjoyable experience for all volunteers.
  • Support the work of the volunteers in managing the receipt of food and clothing donations from the community and the distribution of goods to our client families.
  • Assist with seasonal drives; collecting, sorting, storing and distributing items.
  • With the volunteers, prepare for the daily operations on opening the Center and ensure closing procedures are carried out.
  • Guide the daily work of volunteers in performing their roles.
  • Work with clients to guide them through the services of the Center as needed.
  • Participate in the management of building and grounds maintenance.
  • Support the Operations Manager with additional tasks as needed.


  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Commitment to community and the mission of the Community Center.
  • Enthusiastic and good humored with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • A team player who collaborates closely with colleagues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents: clients, volunteers, donors etc.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a lot in a small space!
  • Flexibility to adjust quickly and perform graciously when pulled in many directions.
  • Financially responsible with a strong sense of ethics.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
