FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
FOR HEALTHY MEALS
Thanks to a generous grant from The MBIA Foundation, Inc., we can provide our clients with fresh produce, not just in the warm weather months, but all throughout the year. "Vegetables are the best kind of food, said one client. "Now, with a choice of many fresh vegetables, it is even better." Her friend added, "Vegetables are the fundamental base to maintain good health."
Community Center Clients Appreciate Fresh Vegetables

KEEPING AN EYE ON DAD

Free blood pressure checks at the Center

During Northern Westchester Hospital's recent clinic at the Center, a nurse checks the blood pressure and glucose levels of one of our clients, while his daughter looks on. NWH will be back at the Center on Saturday, February 25, conducting free vascular screening between 10 am and 12 noon.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW PROGRAM MANAGER,
MANUEL MENDEZ
Manuel Mendez, CCNW Programs Manager
Manuel Mendez, a longtime friend of the Center, has joined our staff as Program Manager. Manuel oversees training classes, such as Basics of Construction and Civics Plus, along with other Center programs.

Originally from Colombia, Manuel lives in Somers and worked at IBM in a variety of positions for 31 years in both Latin America and the U.S.

Soon after volunteering at the Center in 2008, Manuel taught Spanish classes for volunteers. He served on the Community Center board in 2011 and began working as the Center's Program Manager last November.

Welcome to the staff, Manuel. We're glad to have you.
NEW DONATION CHECK-IN SYSTEM
PLEASES DONORS AND VOLUNTEERS ALIKE
Donations Weighed
Thanks to our new donation check-in system, volunteers now easily weigh and record all donations that come to the Center's door-- food, clothing, shoes, school supplies, and new sleepwear-- and immediately produce a detailed receipt for our donors.

Thanks to all the volunteers who have worked so hard to learn the new system, and thanks to all the donors who have been so patient while we have been learning. A huge thanks to Tom Harris and Jim Dowling for creating this system for the Center and bringing us into the 21st century!
